Day 18: The difference a day makes ...

I guess I'm over the hump. That or functioning on pure, uncut adrenaline. Either way, I'm in a content state of being. Hours were even longer today (and I didn't adjust the time zone on my iPod, so it woke me up two hours early, at 3 a.m. MST. I wondered why the sun hadn't risen!), but a hearty breakfast and a reasonable amount of sleep did me wonders.

Or, in all likelihood, it could be witnessing 250+ people, most 20-30 years my senior, outpace me in both enthusiasm and attitude. Many have endured debilitating diseases, fought life-threatening maladies, and risen from terminal illness with heightened purpose and passion. It is during these encounters that I sincerely believe in my company's motto: "improving the quality of life". Though, these improved lives have not the company nor its products to thank, but the people. Organizations sometimes make it possible, but, unquestionably, it is people who change lives.

For such an admirable feat, it's amazing how simple it is to change lives. Employing compassion and courage, we can all change lives every day. Of course, I'm not telling you anything revolutionary or groundbreaking, but it's easy to forget. If you get a chance, head on over to my buddy and fellow AIMer Martin Benning's site at 7scc.org (7 Summits Cancer Climb). He's a three-time cancer conqueror and is on his way to scaling the tallest peak on each continent. So far he's been atop three and Russia's Mount Elbrus is next. Martin's a remarkable individual and a nice guy to boot. He let me wear his pack that he climbs in the other day and I could hardly walk, much less shoot up a mountain. The story alone could change lives, but, coupled with his commitment, Martin inspires us to make them count.

For better or for worse, whose life are you changing? And, who are you letting change your own? Consider that and get back to me.
